This Langham Collection bird print comes from a body of work I created for The Langham Hotel Boston — a two-year collaboration that placed my watercolors in the hotel’s guest rooms as permanent art-in-residence

each exploring a different phase of flight and hunting

and commits to the choreography that has defined its species for millions of years

The black facial mask and yellow throat create graphic markings that are bold for such a small bird

The Langham selected four species blue jay, tree swallow, great blue heron, and belted kingfisher for their connection to New Englands natural landscape, and I painted each one specifically for the intimate scale and quiet light of a hotel room.
