Maria, The Sound of Music (1965) A movie wedding dress fit for a royal wedding (not unlike Princess Eugenie's actual dress from 2018, now that we think of it!), the fitted, long-sleeved Shantung silk gown with pleated train and statement, high collar that Julie Andrews wears as Maria in The Sound of Music has more in common with 1960s wedding dresses than 1930s ones, but its modest, elegant lines are truly timeless
